#7 Morbius
Sony made big bucks with Tom Hardy’s Venom, so it’s no surprise that the next Spider-Man spinoff from the studio will also follow a Marvel anti-hero’s adventures, though a lesser-known one. Producer Matt Tolmach told ComicBook.com in September 2018 that Sony was “next up” with a film based on Morbius the Living Vampire, and the studio is putting their faith in Jared Leto to perform in the lead role. To say the least, Leto’s portrayal of the Joker was controversial, but Tolmach wants the winner of the Oscar to treat Morbius with the same “strength and charisma and devotion.”

Dr. Michael Morbius is a doctor who, after trying to cure his rare blood condition, has some horrific side effects, is forced to turn to vampirism. Morbius battled with Marvel’s wall-crawler when he first appeared in 1971’s Amazing Spider-Man #101, but in later issues he became more of a sympathetic figure, which is probably the case when this debut solo feature. According to Jeff Sneider of Collider, the piece’s real villain is likely to be a character played by Matt Smith, who is currently deep in the project negotiations.
