#1 Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)
Warner Bros. has been teasing the return of Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn for a while, but we didn’t get our first real look at the movie until October 2019, when Birds of Prey’s trailer (and One Harley Quinn’s Fantabulous Emancipation) dropped. The trailer gave audiences a preview of what director Cathy Yan intended, introducing the characters that are going to team up with Quinn as she takes on the Black Mask of Ewan McGregor.
Co-stars with Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Helena Bertinelli (a.k.a Huntress, a princess-turned-vigilante mafia). Jurnee Smollett-Bell plays Dinah Lance (the original member of the Birds of Prey, known as Black Canary). Rosie Perez joins the criminal group as Renée Montoya (a.k.a. The Question, a fugitive Gotham City cop).The trailer shows that Black Mask is after all of them, which is why they are put together by Harley Quinn (who broke up with the Joker before the movie’s events). Quinn is also wanted by the character of McGregor (“Miss Quinn? She’s mine,” he says), and so is Cassandra Cain from Ella Jay Basco.
[adace-ad id=”884″]It seems as if Quinn is going to spend a good chunk of the movie shielding Cain (who becomes Batgirl in the comics) from Black Mask, who in his first feature film appearance apparently won’t always wear the mask, but will be just as unhamed as his comic book counterpart.Quinn’s pet hyenas Bud and Lou will also make their big screen debut.
